Daniel Bergstrand mixes "Future Breed Machine" by Meshuggah

Mixed by Daniel Bergstrand—best known for his work with Meshuggah, In Flames, and Soilwork—this session offers a first-hand look at an early evolution of heavy modern production. Bergstrand’s approach at Dugout Studios emphasized saturation, phase alignment, and the struggle to bring clarity and punch to hyper-dense arrangements. This multitrack session showcases his forward-thinking choices on transient control, exaggerated room mics, and low-end management on extended-range guitars.

You’ll be mixing some of the tightest and most intense performances ever tracked. The drum editing is absolutely unforgiving. Guitars speak in polymetric pulse patterns that require intelligent automation and EQ shaping to avoid build-up and mask the percussive detail. The vocals are raw but precisely placed, requiring careful gain structuring and dialectic balance with the instrumentation. You’ll be working with minimal embellishment—no strings, no doubles, just raw components that demand conviction in mix decisions.

Download the multitracks and dig in. This isn’t just an exercise in polishing metal—it’s a puzzle in precision, clarity, and sonic intent. For fans of complex production and surgical mixing, this is essential experience.
